The Mystery of the Old House

It was a chilly autumn evening when I, Alex Monroe, first moved into the old house at the edge of town. The house had been empty for years, and the locals whispered about its haunted past. But I didn’t believe in ghosts—at least, not until that night.

The first night was uneventful, but on the second night, things started to change. I heard soft footsteps coming from the hallway as I lay in bed. I got up to check, but there was no one there. The house was silent except for the creaking of the old wooden floors.

The following night, I noticed something even stranger. The old mirror in the hallway, which was covered in dust, had the word “LEAVE” written on it. I wiped it clean, thinking it was a prank, but the word reappeared the next day.

One evening, as I sat in the living room, I saw a shadow move across the wall. It was faint but unmistakable. I tried to convince myself it was just my imagination, but deep down, I knew something was wrong.

Determined to uncover the truth, I decided to explore the attic. It was filled with old furniture and dusty boxes. In the corner, I found an old diary. The entries spoke of a family who had lived here long ago, and their tragic fate. The last entry was particularly chilling—it mentioned strange noises and sightings like mine.

As I packed my bags that night, I heard the footsteps again. This time, they were louder and closer. I didn’t stay to find out what was making them. I left the old house and never looked back.

To this day, I still wonder about the house and the spirits that might still wander its halls. One thing is for sure—I will never forget my time at the Mystery of the Old House at the edge of town.
