Rome. A city full of amazing history, art, and… maybe even ghosts? I never believed in ghost stories, especially not those about famous tourist spots. I thought it was just a way to trick people into visiting. But my trip to Rome, specifically the Colosseum, completely changed my mind.
I was in Rome for a photography class. I wanted to take pictures of the city’s beautiful old buildings and monuments. Of course, the Colosseum was on my list. I booked a late-night tour to avoid the crowds and get some cool photos.
As it got dark, a cold feeling settled over the Colosseum. Our guide, a friendly Italian man named Marco, started telling us stories about gladiators fighting and the crowds cheering. The atmosphere felt heavy, and I started to feel really uncomfortable.
Then, it happened.
A whisper. It was quiet, but I heard it brush past my ear. I thought it was just the wind. But then another one came, closer this time. It was a low, moaning sound that made my hair stand on end. Other people on the tour noticed it too. They looked at each other nervously.
Marco kept talking like nothing was happening, but even his voice sounded a little scared. We went down into the tunnels under the Colosseum. This was where they used to keep the gladiators and animals before the fights. The whispers got louder. I felt really scared, like someone was watching us.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew through the tunnels. It turned off several of our flashlights. Everyone panicked. Then someone screamed! Our brave guide, Marco, even fainted. Somehow, we all managed to get out of the tunnels.
I don’t know what caused the whispers, the cold wind, or the feeling of fear. Maybe it was just my imagination, thinking about all the history. But I left the Colosseum that night feeling like I had seen something more than just old stones. The Colosseum is beautiful and you should visit, but be careful. Remember its history and the energy it holds.
