Choose a photo (or the sample) to make an old instant print.

How to use it

  1. 1. Choose a photo; it is cropped square like an instant print.
  2. 2. Set the fading, scratches, grain and light leak.
  3. 3. Write a caption for the frame, such as a date, a name or a warning.
  4. 4. Download the print as a PNG.

The photograph nobody remembers taking

Instant prints age in a recognisable way: the colours drift towards yellow and magenta, the blacks lift, dust and scratches collect on the surface, and the white border picks up fingerprints. Found in a drawer, they invite questions. Who took this, and who is standing behind them?

The generator crops your photo to the square instant format, shifts its colour towards an aged palette, adds film grain, fine scratches and a light leak, then mounts it in a slightly uneven frame. The caption is drawn in a handwritten face along the bottom edge.

Questions

Which photos work best?

Simple compositions with one subject, especially portraits and quiet rooms, look most like a real instant print.

Can I keep the photo in colour?

Yes. Fading controls how far the colour drifts; at zero the original colour is largely kept.

Is the photo uploaded?

No. It is processed and drawn in your browser only.
