Creepy Newspaper Generator

Write a front page from a town where something terrible happened: masthead, headline, story and an aged-paper finish.

How to use it

  1. 1. Name your newspaper and choose a period style.
  2. 2. Write a headline, a sub-headline and the article text; set the date.
  3. 3. Optionally add a photograph; it is printed in halftone like old newsprint.
  4. 4. Adjust the ageing, then download as PNG or PDF.

A prop for stories and games

A yellowed front page is one of horror's oldest props: the clipping pinned to a wall, the article about a disappearance thirty years earlier, the headline a character reads one second too late. It is ideal for tabletop games, escape rooms, short films and story illustrations.

Choose between a Victorian broadsheet, an early twentieth-century daily and a 1970s local paper. Your photo is converted to a halftone dot screen, the text is set in narrow newspaper columns, and the page gets folds, stains and uneven ink to taste.

Every page carries a small "fictional" line in the footer, so it can't be mistaken for real reporting if it is shared out of context.

Questions

Why is there a "fictional" notice at the bottom?

Generated pages look like real newspapers. The small notice keeps them from being mistaken for genuine reporting if they travel online without context.

Can I print it?

Yes. The PDF export is A4-sized artwork, and the PNG works for screens and social posts.

Is any of my text or my photo stored?

No. Everything is assembled in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
